Other surgical procedures, such as cheilectomy, often only aggravate the symptoms or provide an additional stimulus. The use of a prosthesis for the toe joint has so far shown the result of a greater loosening rate. The stiffening operation is the last resort in cases of massive arthrosis and in cases of already significant preoperative stiffening. This results in a severe limitation of the gait pattern or the associated impairment in everyday life.
